Greetings friends,

I am enlisting in the Air Force. I am a computer programmer by trade,
and I will be taking the Electronic Data Processing Test (EDPT) so the
Air Force may determine my qualifications and placement.

I would like recommendations on some good resources to help prepare
for the test. Web URLs, books, all are very much appreciated.

In fact, any advice or information about this test will be welcomed.

Thank you very much! Kind regards,
-joshua

Joshua,

Contrary to what you might think, the EDPT test doesn't have
anything directly to do with computer programming. Its basically a
1960's based logic test (word association, number sequences, 3d object
visualizations, etc.). When I took the test, I used an SAT Study
Guide for the word and number problems. The 3d objects (e.g. what
shape is the object when folded or unfolded...) could be reviewed from
other sources. I don't believe that there is a commericial study
guide (I could be wrong).

Once upon a time, the USAF was considering updating the test to
actually have it be computer specific. I guess that never happened.
IIRC, you need a 71 to qualify as a comm-computer systems programmer.
Unless things have changed, it was scored as number correct, not a
percentage (if you are starting to run out of time, it doesn't hurt
you to guess).

Hopefully, this was of some help. If you have any other
questions, contact me offline.

Mike

PS: In case you were wondering, I'm in the career field you are
trying to get into (21+ years).
