PermalinkDefense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Donald Trump are open
to using military force like airstrikes and special forces
against drug cartels in Mexico.
Trump has long took issue with the criminal rings and he vowed
during his campaign 'to wage war on the cartels.'
Just on Monday some suspected cartel members brazenly opened
fire on U.S. Border Patrol who were monitoring a drug and
human smuggling hot zone at the Texas-Mexico border. The
agents returned fire into Mexico, though no on was injured.
. . .
I would discourage actual military attacks
"across the line".
Trump DID designate some of the cartels/gangstas
as "terrorists". A bit dubious, but what is, is.
However blasting the shit out of Mexican territory
won't improve anything - just cause a huge incident
and a LOT of countries will side with Mexico in this.
The Greenland thing has primed their response to
what's seen as Trump "imperialism".
Finally, note that the cartels don't have a big
clubhouse out on the edge of town - they're IN
town along with a zillion civvies. Unless the
USA is prepared to go like Israel after Hamas,
well ...
IF this kind of shit continues/advances then Trump
may need immediate impeachment. Sorry, but ....
